The Glacier Lakes Chapter will again be hosting our annual series of Ice Driving Clinics on Lake Cynthia near Prior Lake, MN. Drivers do a variety of car control exercises on the ice and get to put their skills to the test on a curvy road course. This is a great opportunity to sharpen winter driving skills and have a lot of fun at the same time. Drivers of all skill levels are welcome, however participants age 20+ must be a current member of Audi Club North America to attend. Special instruction will be offered for teen drivers age 19 and under. ACNA membership is not required for teen participants. To join Audi Club North America or renew membership, visit the website at http://www.audiclubna.org/join-renew.
NOTE:
This year, participants who are not Audi Club members are eligible to receive a 1-year membership in the Audi Club North America with their paid participation fee, courtesy of the Glacier Lakes Chapter. Please see the event master or contact us for more information about this special offer
Weather permitting we will be holding the events on the following dates:
- Sunday, January 15 - CANCELLED DUE TO CONDITIONS
- Sunday, January 29 - CANCELLED DUE TO CONDITIONS
- Sunday, February 12 - CANCELLED DUE TO CONDITIONS
- Sunday, February 26 - CANCELLED DUE TO CONDITIONS
Unfortunately, due to unusually warm weather, the ice conditions were not safe enough for our winter driving clinics. Safety is our first concern. We look forward to a (hopefully) cold winter next year. Please consider attending one of our other driving clinics at Dakota County Technical College or Brainerd International Raceway. Check the website for details.
We may add an additional Sunday or two (also weather permitting) if possible. Be sure to watch our website for updates.
We ask that you preregister using the form at the bottom of the page. These events are dependent upon weather conditions so be sure to stay tuned to this posting for updates. Note that events can be cancelled on short notice.
Pricing:
$50 per driver, per clinic
Check in will begin at 7:45am on the lake. Entry fees will be collected at that time (New this year, Credit Cards will be accepted, $1.50 service fee will be added). . A mandatory drivers meeting will be held at 8:30am. Those who request instruction will have an instructor assigned following the driver’s meeting. Please bring your helmet. If you do not have one, we will have some available for use free of charge.
Please note, due to the nature of the driving exercises and the snow banks created during plowing, we do NOT allow large SUVs, Minivans, or Trucks to participate at these events. Small to midsize SUV’s may be allowed conditions permitting.
Additional Information:
We plan to enter the lake on the south side. Look for orange cones and the black GLQC banner. Click HERE for a map.
We will break for lunch from noon to 1pm. The Horse and Hunt Club / Triggers (roughly 1 mile away) generally offers our participants a lunch special. The full menu is also available. You may also dine elsewhere or bring your own food and beverage.
Car prep:
- Have your car washed and ensure there are no leaks as we are on a lake and do not want to harm the environment.
- 2. Remove loose items from the interior of your car and trunk.
- 3. Arrive with a full tank of gas.
