Join GLQC and Nord Stern PCA for the Last Fling Drivers Traning and Drivers Eduction event at Brainerd International Raceway Friday, September 10 through Sunday, September 12. Drivers of all skill levels are welcome.

Friday, September 10:

Drivers Training: Classroom, behind the wheel exercises and supervised lapping sessions to teach and enhance car control and driving technique for the First Time, Novice and Intermediate (non-solo) driver.
Advanced Lapping: Open lapping for Instructors, and Advanced and Intermediate Solo level drivers begins at approximately 2:30pm.

Saturday, September 11 - Sunday, September 12:

Drivers Education: Controlled run group lapping at high speed on the 3.1 mile Road Course (long track). First Time, Novice and Intermediate (non-solo) drivers will be assigned instructors. PREREQUISITE: To register and participate in Saturday and Sunday’s Driver Education you must meet at least one of the below requirements.

Enrollment in the Friday September 10 Driver Training session at BIR.
Previous completion of at least one ACNA Drivers School at a track location, or a GLQC Adult Car Control Clinic at Dakota County Technical College.

Pricing and Registration:
- Drivers Training Only (Friday): $250
- Drivers Training and Drivers Education (Friday-Sunday): $450
- Advanced Lapping Only (Friday): $125
- Drivers Education Only (Saturday-Sunday): $295 first driver; $265 second driver of same car

GLQC Instructors: please fill out the form below to participate as an instructor Friday and / or Saturday and Sunday. Please note, registration on clubregistration.net is still required to attend Friday Advanced Lapping and Saturday/Sunday DE.

Check in and Drivers Meetings will be held at the track the morning of the event (Friday / Saturday). All participants must provide a signed vehicle Tech Check Form upon check in.

Supplemental Track Insurance:
Insurance through Lockton Affinity is available for this event. Go here to purchase their insurance coverage.

Lodging:
The Lodge at Brainerd Lakes has reserved a block of 20 rooms at a special rate of $129 a night for Friday and Saturday. To get this rate, you must tell them you are a Glacier Lakes Quattro Club Member and book by 8/27/10.

There are several other lodging options in the Brainerd / Baxter area which are convenient to BIR, including the Rodeway Inn Baxter , Country Inn & Suites and Comfort Suites Rapid River Lodge.

June 27, 2010 Teen Driving Clinc Recap

We had 15 students join us on Sunday, June 27 for a day of classroom and behind the wheel exercises with their personal instructor. Once again we had terrific feedback from the parents and the students. Thank you to all of the volunteers and instructors who give their time to make these schools happen. Thank you to the parents and kids as well for your support. Our final teen driving clinic of the 2010 season will be held on Saturday, August 21. Only a few spots are left. Spread the word!

Annual Pig Roast – Saturday, August 14, 2010

This year’s annual club Pig Roast and Barbecue will be held in conjunction with our sponsor, Carousel Audi, onsite at their Golden Valley location on Saturday, August 14. The event runs from 10am to 4pm, with food service between 11:30am and 3:30pm. Roast pork, turkey, freshly roasted sweet corn and other sides will be served.

We have loads of fun things in store for the whole family, a Show and Shine sponsored by LaMettry’s Collision, a moonwalk for the kids, a raffle featuring a Two-Day Driver Education Event at BIR, test drives, a special obstacle course driving challenge and more. And let’s not forget about the great food and lots of good company!

To participate in the car show, please plan to check in and register your car before noon. Voting will take place from noon to 2:30. Awards will be given to the three most popular cars, with a First Place prize of a $100 gift certificate from LaMettry’s Collision.

All Glacier Lakes Quattro Club members are welcome free of charge. You won’t want to miss the fun.

Scenic Drive to Henderson, May 15 – Recap

Ten people turned out to take a scenic drive down to Henderson, MN. The weather was great and the twisty roads were perfect for a fun Saturday morning drive. Thank you to those who attended and to Mark Pladson for leading the drive.

Annual “Ice Out” Open House, May 8 – Recap

Despite the clouds and cool temps, around 50 people came out to Anderson Motorsport to socialize and enjoy the barbeque. Everyone had a good time and a many people walked away with a raffle item or two (or three…). Thank you to Anderson Motorsport for hosting this event.

BIR April 30-May 2, 2010 Recap

90+ participants, including around 25 GLQC members made their way up to Brainerd International Raceway for a weekend of drivers education and a lot of fun on the track. Despite the cool temps, rain and wind everyone had a great time. Thank you to all of the participants and especially to the volunteers. Thanks to our friends at Nord Stern PCA who welcomed GLQC to partner with them for this event. We look forward to future co-events.

April 18, 2010 Adult Car Control Clinic Recap

Five adults participated in our Adult Car Control Clinic at Dakota County Technical College on Sunday, April 18. The day consisted of short classroom sessions and a LOT of behind the wheel time. Because of the small group, participants we were able to do a variety of exercises on both dry and wet pavement, increasingly pushing themselves and their vehicles. Participants were able to have both in-car instruction and the opportunity to go it on their own. The weather was gorgeous and everyone had a great time. Thank you to the instructors, volunteers and participants!

April 17, 2010 Teen Driving Clinic Recap

We had a nice spring day for our first Teen Driving Clinic of the season. 10 teenagers participated in a full day of classroom and behind the wheel driving exercises and with a personal instructor by their sides their skills and confidence levels grew throughout the day. Special thanks to the volunteers and instructors who gave of their free time to make it happen, and to the parents for supporting this program and helping out during the day. Our next Teen Driving Clinic is on Sunday, June 27.

It was a gorgeous, sunny day for our last ice event of the season. We had our biggest turnout of the series with 36 drivers participating in the fun. Thank you to everyone who participated and volunteered at the ice events this year.
