Well, the weather is starting to get cold again and we all know what that means… FROZEN LAKES TO DRIVE ON!!!
Once again the Glacier Lakes Chapter is hosting a series of Ice Driving Events at Lake Cynthia in Prior Lake, MN this winter. Here are the tentative dates (subject to weather conditions of course).
Here is a link to some local news coverage from FOX 9 about our Ice Driving events: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tI3kPITRvW0
Stay tuned to this site for further updates. Pricing for these events this year includes an ACNA Membership Discount of $10. Pre-registration is strongly suggested as these events do fill up fast.
Price = $60 per driver ($50 if you are a current ACNA member). Cash or check collected on-site the morning of the event. Sorry, we do not have an easy way to process credit cards or other forms of payment for these events. Helmets will be available for rent free of charge.
Due to the nature of our driving exercises and the snow banks created during plowing, we do NOT allow SUVs, Minivans, or Trucks to participate at these events. If you are uncertain (e.g. crossover vehicles), please contact Keith Anderson or another one of our board members.
Drivers meeting is at 8:30 AM, be sure to get there early to get registered and be ready for the meeting. See you all on Sunday!
Here is a link to a map and directions. We will be entering on the southside of the lake. Look for orange cones and the black GLQC banner.

We had a wonderful 25th Anniversary celebration in Brainerd for the Audi Club North America hosted by the Glacier Lakes Chapter. The days were exceptional and unseasonably cold, but all had a great time. 54 drivers from all over the country were instructed in the skills of performance driving by over 35 Audi Club driving instructors. Uwe Fricker (Audi Driving Experience) joined us to assist in our driving instruction and give all of our instructors some extra tips. We were also honored to have Johan de Nysschen (President of Audi of America) join us at the track and speak at the banquet. Marilyn Beddor and Steve Beddor were honorary guests. Go to www.audiclubna.org for some pics and videos.
More to be posted in the coming weeks.
A very special THANK YOU to all of our instructors for their time in helping each student driver reach their objectives and potential throughout the weekend.

At last month’s GLQC Board of Directors meeting on July 13th, 2009, Mary Ann McCauley formally resigned her position as President and Board Member of GLQC. Two weeks later, the GLQC Board met again to assign an interim Board Member to fill Mary Ann’s vacant seat until December 31st, 2009, when her term is complete. The Board nominated and unanimously elected Louis Zachary to fill Mary Ann’s seat. Louis accepted. In addition, the Board also nominated and unanimously elected Louis to be interim President through the end of the term (Dec 31st, 2009). Louis accepted.
We are honored and greatful of Mary Ann’s committment and efforts with the Glacier Lakes Quattro Club. We also appreciate Louis’ help for coming back during this time of transition.
