May 21, Spring Fun Drive Recap

Six club members ignored the gloomy weather report and enjoyed a nice drive down to Henderson MN where we had coffee at the Bittersweet Café.  The group picture below was taken at the Firemans Park the appointed  rendezvous spot  in Chaska.    Mark Pladson led the group down through various county scenic byways for the 47 mile route to Henderson.  The weather cleared enough so we were able to enjoy the quiet misty morning drive.  The wet pavement drew a sharp contrast to the spring green leaves bursting out from a long winter and the flowering shrubs popped color into the landscape which still had wisps of fog lingering in the groves and valleys.

We had a good turnout from the Audi club at BIR for the last fling DT / DE weekend.  Those who drove on Friday got to drive the short track, with the rest of the weekend run on the long track.  Despite some mechanical and hardware issues, everyone had a great time.  Thank you to everyone who came up to join in the fun.  We are already looking forward to next season!

Five adults participated in our Adult Car Control Clinic at Dakota County Technical College on Sunday, April 18.   The day consisted of short classroom sessions and a LOT of behind the wheel time.  Because of the small group, participants we were able to do a variety of exercises on both dry and wet pavement, increasingly pushing themselves and their vehicles.  Participants were able to have both in-car instruction and the opportunity to go it on their own.  The weather was gorgeous and everyone had a great time.  Thank you to the instructors, volunteers and participants!

ACNA Icon Color on White 2We had a wonderful 25th Anniversary celebration in Brainerd for the Audi Club North America hosted by the Glacier Lakes Chapter.  The days were exceptional and unseasonably cold, but all had a great time.  54 drivers from all over the country were instructed in the skills of performance driving by over 35 Audi Club driving instructors.  Uwe Fricker (Audi Driving Experience) joined us to assist in our driving instruction and give all of our instructors some extra tips.  We were also honored to have Johan de Nysschen (President of Audi of America) join us at the track and speak at the banquet.  Marilyn Beddor and Steve Beddor were honorary guests.  Go to www.audiclubna.org for some pics and videos.

More to be posted in the coming weeks.
